History  of  Kabwoya Wildlife reserve

The reserve was first gazetted in 1980 as a home to wildlife and also a hunting ground. Due to excess hunting and poaching forced the animals to extinct. Cattle keepers gazetted the area to rare their livestock, extinguishing even the small number of animals that had remained in the area, Later in 2002  it was declared a wildlife reserve in an attempt to revive the reserve.  The government drove away the cattle herders who had occupied the area, As a way of enriching the reserve with wildlife, the government trans-located animals to the reserve through Uganda wildlife authority.
