Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is located in south western Uganda. it is about 321 square kilometers and is situated in three districts and those are Rukungiri, kisoro and kabale. It was first gazetted at in 1932.it and can take 9 hours from Kampala.

Bwindi lies in a range of 1160 meters above sea level in Ishasha Gorge to 2607meters at Rwamanyonyi peak. In bwindi national park mountain gorillas are the prime Uganda safaris animals that you have to visit and you require a gorilla tracking permit in order to trek them.

This park has the margherita peak and this national park is 996sqaure kilometers stretching in three such as kabarole, kasese, and Bundibugyo district.

Rwenzori mountains national park has got the Highest Mountain in Africa, which has an altitude of 16700 feet above sea level and it is snowcapped. It has glaciers which are a source of water to river Nile, the longest river in the world.

Rwenzori mountains national park is extremely stunning with those amazing park for example margherita peak which is the highest, mount Speke, mount Stanley, mount baker, mount Emin pasha and mount lugida savoia which can be for climbing peaks in the park. Game reserves are large areas of land that are set aside as protected areas for wild animals. Bugundu game reserve is one of the game reserves in Uganda, which covers an area of 501 square kilometers and is located on the edge of Murchison falls national park situated between Bulisa and Masindi district, it protects seasonal wetlands and savannah grassland at the base of the rift valley escarpment and it was gazette in 1968.

Bugundu game reserve harbors a number of wildlife species, for example large numbers of leopards, hippos, lions, Uganda kobs, oribi, elands, waterbucks, Bushbucks, the Oryx, warthogs, topis, reedbucks, elephants, Rothschild’s, Sitatunga among others. This game reserves also have primate species which are protected such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkey, l’hoests monkeys, Patas monkeys and vervet monkeys.

This game reserve is also a home to many bird species of over 240 species which are sheltered and protected in this reserve for example shoebill stork, Black headed Gonolek, black billed wood dove, Black billed barbet, Black-headed batis, Double toothed barbet, Abyssinian, giant kingfisher among others.  This game reserve can be visited throughout the year but it is best during the dry season and that is June to September because during the dry season, the place can be bushy and muddy.

Pian upe wildlife reserve

Pian upe wildlife reserve is the second largest reserve after Murchison falls national park. It was found in the karamoja sub regions of northeastern Uganda in Nakapiripite district. Pian upe reserve covers an area 2788 square kilometers north of mountain Elgon national park.

Pian upe  wildlife reserve harbors a good number 44mammal wildlife species such as plain zebras, buffalos, lions, Topis, giraffes, oribi, greater kudus, elands, hartebeests, spotted hyenas, Dik-dik, cheetahs, Hedgehogs, Roan antelopes and jackals ,primate species like vervet monkey, patas monkey, olive baboons among others. This area bleeds with various tree species like the desert date, red acacia, red spike thorns, Harrisonia Abyssinia and shrubs such as woolly caper bush, butterfly pea and so on.

This wildlife reserve has many reptiles which are protected in this are such as water snakes, puff adders, rock pythons, lizards and so on. The perfect time to visit Pian upe wildlife is during the dry or dry months of the year and that is from January- March in order to have a clear game views because the less vegetation cover. Travelers should not visit this place in April –October because there are issues is navigation due to heavy rains.

Ziwa rhino sanctuary.

The Ziwa rhino sanctuary is located in Nakasongola district 176 kilometers from Kampala. This sanctuary was established in 2005 to further the longevity of the conservation of white rhinos Uganda after so many years of extinction. This was done by UWA called rhino fund Uganda and rhinos are one of the Uganda safari big 5 animals. The major activity carried out in ziwa rhino sanctuary is rhino tracking and there are tracking rules and guidelines that must be followed and if one deliberately refuses to abide by the rules pays a fee or fine of $100.

Murchison falls national park is locally known as kabalega national park which is located 305kilometers north of Kampala in masindi district and can be accessed by road or flights. It covers an area of about 4000square kilometers

Murchison falls national park has got so many endangered species was once gazetted as wildlife reserve In a year of 1926 and is a home of 76 different mammal species, with 451 bird species. This national park has conservation areas made up of karuma wildlife reserve, bugundu wildlife reserve and Murchison falls national park.

Animals at Murchison falls national park are often seen while on a boat safari ad game drives In the park .the animals include elephants, Uganda kob buffaloes giraffes bushbuck warthogs hyenas, oribi, hartebeests, leopards, lions, waterbucks, Rothschild among others, though crocodiles are seen lurking around river Nile in Murchison falls national park.

Also June to October due to the hot season, animals gather at the Nile to wash off their thirst.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is located in south western Uganda.it is about 321 square kilometers and is situated in three districts and those are Rukungiri, kisoro and kabale. It was first gazetted at in 1932.it and can take 9hours from Kampala.

Bwindi lies in a range of 1160meters above sea level in Ishasha Gorge to 2607meters at Rwamanyonyi peak. In bwindi national park mountain gorillas are the prime animals that you have to visit and you require a gorilla tracking permit in order to trek them.

Bwindi national park is a home to 600 individuals living in the four sectors that make up bwindi for example Buhoma sector, Nkuringo sector, Ruhija sector and Rushaga sector. There are habituated mountain gorillas of about 19 in number for example Habyinyanja, rushegura, katwe, nkuringo, Busigye, Bweza, Mishaya, Christmas, Bitukura, Mukiza, Nshongo, kuhungye among others

Bwindi national park has got 90 mammal species with 11 primate species, also habits 360 bird species, 200 butterflies and 324 plant species. The mammal species include elephant, bush pigs, duikers and giant forest hogs among others

The bird species found in bwindi are 23 Albertine endemics and only 14 species in bwindi impenetrable national park like Shelley’s, purple breasted among others. There is also butterflies species which are 8 albertine rift endemics.

Activities in Bwindi

Uganda Gorilla trekking safaris,  Gorilla trekking is a prime activity in bwindi national park. During this activity the tourists must be briefed on the gorilla trekking rules guidelines and regulations. This trek takes about 3-6hours to locate these endangered species and once they are found, tourists are only allowed to stay with them for only one hour(1hr) for example to view and take photos. It was a great experience.

Bird watching. Birding is also another interesting activity in bwindi due to the presence of a good number of different bird species of about 350 species. These species include crimson wing, Shelley’s ,handsome francolin, purple breasted among others with butterflies and African giant swallowtail, cream banded swallowtail among others

Nature walks. Nature walks is also another interesting activity carried out in bwindi national park for example walking from Buhoma to nkuringo trail which takes 4-5 hours of completion while walking, Rushura hill walk trail which runs through the forests between Uganda and Congo. There is even Muyanga water walk trail that leads to the magnificent muyanga waterfall and lastly the Ivi river walk trail which is 14 kilometers and this can take 7 hours while walking.

Batwa cultural tour. Batwa cultural tour is another interesting activity in bwindi impenetrable national park. The different activities carried out like their ways of living, dance and their song are so interesting.

Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Queen Elizabeth national park was named as the former queen of England. This national park is located in western Uganda and it stretches through Kasese, Bushenyi and Bundibugyo district.it is also 389km from Kampala, the capital city.

Queen Elizabeth national park is well known for tree climbing lions in ishasha sector and also has the four of the big5 animals like lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. On the big 5 list it doesn’t have rhinos.

Queen Elizabeth national park  habits many animals in the park for ample elephants, lions, big herds buffaloes, leopards ,black and white colobus monkeys, Topi, spotted hyena, chimpanzee, giant forest hog, Nile crocodile, hippopotamus, Uganda safari kob among others. Game viewing. Game viewing is an amazing experience in Queen Elizabeth national park. This activity is best done in the morning hours and this helps to feature up close viewing of the wildlife which habits the part in the comfort of a vehicle. During the game drive you can view lion preying on an antelope in the jungle. This enables tourists to have a clear and closet view of the park.

Boat cruise. Boat cruise is an interesting activity in Queen Elizabeth national park and this activity takes place on the kazinga channel along natural water channel linking L.Edward and George is an amazing event for you in the park. Uganda Chimpanzee trekking safaris, Chimpanzee trekking is an activity done in queen Elizabeth national park and it is carried out in kyambura gorge which is known as the valley of Apes. Activities in kidepo national park.

Game drives.

Game drives is an amazing and interesting activity done in kidepo national park and is mostly done along the Narus valley since much of the wildlife gather here. During the evening drive you shall find so many animals around water source like buffaloes among others. Lions and other cats are often sighted on the top of the rocks and kopjes looking out for prey in the vast plain.

Semuliki national park is one of the newest national park in Uganda which covers an area of 220 square kilometers. This park is located in the remote part western region of Uganda and is dominated by extensive Savannah grasslands, semuliki river, hot springs and lowland tropical rainforest.

Semuliki national park also habits 53 mammal spices for example warthog, De brazza, leopard, pygmy hippos, black and white Colobus monkeys, Dent’s, Mona monkeys, rare bush babies, Uganda safari kob, central African red colobus, waterbuck, olive baboon, buffaloes, vervet, African civet, chimpanzee, water chevrotains, grey-checked mangabey among others.

Bugundu game reserve is one of the game reserves in Uganda, which covers an area of 501 square kilometers and is located on the edge of Murchison falls national park situated between Bulisa and Masindi district, it protects seasonal wetlands and savannah grassland at the base of the rift valley escarpment and it was gazette in 1968.

Bugundu game reserve harbors a number of wildlife species, for example large numbers of leopards, hippos, lions, Uganda kobs, oribi, elands, waterbucks, Bushbucks, the Oryx, warthogs, Topis, reedbucks, elephants, Rothschild’s, Sitatunga bird Uganda safaris among others. Pian upe wildlife Uganda reserve is the second largest reserve after Murchison falls national park. It was found in the karamoja sub regions of northeastern Uganda in Nakapiripite district. Pian upe reserve covers an area 2788 square kilometers north of mountain Elgon national park.

Pian upe  wildlife reserve harbors a good number 44mammal wildlife species such as plain zebras, buffalos, lions, Topis, giraffes, oribi, greater kudus, elands, hartebeests, spotted hyenas, Dik-dik, cheetahs, Hedgehogs, Roan antelopes and jackals ,primate species like vervet monkey, patas monkey, olive baboons among others. This area bleeds with various tree species like in the desert date, in red acacia, red spike thorns, Harrisonia Abyssinia and shrubs such as woolly caper bush, butterfly pea and so on.

This wildlife reserve has many reptiles which are protected in this are such as water snakes, puff adders, rock pythons, lizards and so on. The perfect time to visit Pian upe wildlife is during the dry or dry months of the year and that is from January- March in order to have a clear game views because the less vegetation cover. Travelers should not visit this place in April –October because there are issues with navigation due to heavy rains.
