Detailed Itinerary 9 Days Rwanda & Kenya safari

Day 1: Arrival at the Airport (Kigali)

On your arrival you will be welcomed to the land of Thousand Hills & then transferred to the place where you will stay by the driver guide as you get ready for your safari for the remaining days. But then still if time still allows you to get an opportunity to tour some places in and around the city of Kigali, like the crafty markets. Check in, Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 2: Tour Genocide Memorial & Drivel to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have breakfast and then set off to tour the Rwanda’s place of Commemoration-Genocide Memorial. This is a place where over 250,000 victims were laid to rest, and still this place does mark the memory of the profound cruelty of the 1994 genocide-what an extremely emotive experience.

As you transfer to Nyungwe Forest, you will pass via Butare town about 135km from the capital city of Rwanda-Kigali, here you could stopover for a quick trip to the National Museum containing a unique exhibition of Rwanda’s rich tradition and its culture and so proceed to the ‘amongst the world’s oldest & debatably Africa’s most attractive rainforest. This forest shelters approximately 13 primate species like Colobus monkeys, Blue monkeys, of course not forgetting the endangered Chimpanzees,301 bird species, check in lunch, Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk (optional)

Have breakfast and get ready to go deeper into Nyungwe Forest National Park, head to the headquarters, be briefed & then proceed in search for the endangered Chimpanzees for Chimpanzee tracking activity. And here you will get an opportunity to watch & eyesight these incredible cousins of Humans closely, interact with them, and also take photos.

You will also get chance to climb high into the forest canopy on one of East Africa’1st canopy treads, of which bridges will lead you on a walk over into a deep valley, via the lovely & luxurious vegetation & also spot a series of wild game habitats, remember canopy walk is an optional activity. Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park 

Breakfast and then transfer to the Volcanoes National Park . This national park does contain portions of the Virunga mountain range & its 5 volcanoes that form the boundary between countries like Rwanda, Uganda & the DR Congo. Volcanoes National park is the most picturesque marvels in Africa, and still the entry to meetings with the iconic endangered mountain gorillas. Check in a lodge, lunch, Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Engage in the Gorilla Tracking Activity

You will be picked by the driver guide, heading to the headquarters of the park where you will be briefed on the Dos & Don’ts about the activity plus allocating you the Habituated gorilla family you are going to trek. This is an exciting, but stimulating activity where you pass through the forested slopes, twisted vines, dense vegetation & Bamboo forests to reach the tracking grounds.

Based on the tracking location, it can take about 1-7hrs and once located you are strictly to be with these gentle giants for 1hr, spot them, interact with them, & can even take photos. Well, mountain Gorilla meetings in their natural territory is accurately awe-inspiring & passionate experience, it’s a lifetime experience. Retire back to your lodge, lunch, Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer back to Kigali & have a flight to Nairobi

Have breakfast, relax at the lodge for a while, lunch & then check out for your transfer to Kigali for your departing flight to Kenya-Nairobi. And here on your arrival you will be picked by the driver guide & taken to a Hotel to check in. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 7: Fly to Masai Mara & get involved in a Game Drive

The driver guide will in the morning pick you up and transfer you to the centre for locally made safari Flights-Wilson Airport, and here you will spend approximately 1hr picturesque trip to the prominent Masai Mara National Reserve. This National Reserve does shelter the notorious Big Five (Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Buffalos & Rhinos), a range of Wildlife of which you will get the opportunity to encounter some of the animals, etc. Check in a lodge, lunch, Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Whole day Game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

Day 9: Departure 

Have your beautiful breakfast, then will be transferred by the driver guide to the Airport just in time for your returning flight back to Kenya –Nairobi.
