 Detailed – 18 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to the Hotel

Uganda and Rwanda tours: On your arrival, the driver guide will transfer you from Kigali International Airport to your hotel in Kigali basing on the time you would have reached, then have a city trip touring around the genocide memorial site and Kimironko market. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Kivu or Gisenyi

on day 2 of your 18 Days best of Uganda and Rwanda safaris,  Breakfast & leave Kigali for Gisenyi, reaching Lake Kivu, perfect timing for lunch, then later set off on a gratifying Boat cruise on Lake Kivu with various bird species & lovely beaches.

lesson at the beach, this lake (Kivu) is renowned for having the finest inland beaches in Africa, either way, you could go for a walk to the Congo Boarder. Dinner & overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Musanze or Ruhengeri

On day 3 of your 18 Days best of Uganda and Rwanda safaris, Have breakfast & then transfer to Musanze – previously known as Ruhengeri & the center for Gorilla trekking activity, then have lunch & devote your evening on a village walk touring local families around the Volcanoes national park. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking & Iby’Iwachu Cultural Village

Breakfast & transfer to the park offices where you will be assigned a Gorilla group to trip & receive updates from your guide for the day. The park guide will then lead you & you follow him into the forest to look for the Gorillas.

Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda can take between 2 – 6 hrs reliant on the positions at which they are(Gorillas) but usually some guides will go into the forest early & track them down before you and link with the group leaders to ease the trek.

Being in their presence you are only allowed to be with them for only 1 hr. spot them, have photos, then retire to the park offices to acquire your gorilla tracking certificate & your guide will transfer you back to your hotel, freshen up & later transfer for Iby’iwachu cultural village trip where you will get to know practically everything about traditional in Rwanda, you will play king / Queen & take turns in using a bow & arrow. Tour a traditional herbalist & witness local beer brewing. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 5: Dian Fossey Trek & Transfer to Kisoro(Uganda)

Have breakfast & go to the park offices to start your hike to the late Dian Fossey’s grave in Karisoke. This is a 3- 4 hrs tracking activity but sometimes challenging with fabulous spotting.

After the tracking activity, rejuvenate at your hotel & transfer to Kisoro in Uganda, passing via Cyanika border with lunch en-route. Dinner & overnight

Day 6: The Golden Monkey & Gorge Walk.

on day 6 of Kigali day trips Have a hot cup of coffee in a normal misty town, take your lunch pack with you and drive to Ntebeko – the offices of Mgahinga National park for Golden monkey trekking. Golden monkeys are the usual species of monkeys in Africa and only originate in the Virunga mountains region.

The tracking activity takes 3- 4 hrs & later set off for a 2 hrs George walk, which will show you to extraordinary spotting like sights of the Congo border, Lake Mutanda & Bunagana town. Returning to the lodge, late afternoon & tour around Lake Mutanda. Dinner & overnight.

Day 7: Tour Batwa in Buhoma

Breakfast & leave Kisoro for Buhoma in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the Batwa Encounter. You will tour the Batwa pygmies & find out more about a real “mutwa” ranger who will take you through their lifestyle & how they survive, partake in several activities like mock hunting & meal preparation, etc. Check-in, Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking Bwindi – Ruhija

The 8th day of your 18 Days best of Uganda and Rwanda safari Breakfast & transfer to the park headquarters for updating & Gorilla group divided by the guide before you go for  Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Tracking, have your packed lunch with you. You will then penetrate into the forest to look for the mountain gorillas.

And this activity does take about 2-8hrs basing on the rwanda and uganda gorilla tours ‘movements & yet only 1hr allowed for you to spend with these gentle giants once found, after the tracking returns back to the starting point for your gorilla tracking certificate. Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi Tour

Breakfast in the morning & then set off for a brief drive to Lake Bunyonyi where you will start on a motorized can go for kigali day trips of the several Islands each with its history & meet the natives, lunch at Bunyonyi Overland Resort and spend the evening appreciating the luxuriant lake or embark on a directed village trip. Day 10: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Tenth day of 18 Days best of Uganda and Rwanda safaris,  Morning breakfast & leave Lake Bunyonyi for the g adventures Uganda Rwanda in Queen Elizabeth National park entering via the Ishasha section & start off with a game drive. The Ishasha section is less sight saw & offers herds of animals like Buffaloes & Elephants. It is also known for its tree-climbing lions although you need some luck to spot them. Day 11: Game drive and Launch Cruise

On the 11th day is the continuation of Rwanda and Uganda tours of 18 Days best of Uganda and Rwanda safari, Breakfast & set off for a game drive where you will widely game view various animals like elephants, lions, buffaloes, to mention but a few. You will also tour the Katwe salt pans where you will discover natives engaged in salt mining – an involvement for the kids. Have lunch at the lodge & get ready for the afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga channel famous for its close-set of hippopotamus in Africa, not only that but you will still view more animals like crocodiles & various bird species. Day 12: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Early morning breakfast & transfer to Kibale with a tour to Amabere Ganyinamwiru stalagmites site plus the crater lakes inclusive. Have lunch along the way in Fort portal town & then continue to Kibale National Park in the afternoon. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 13: Chimpanzee trekking- Kibale forest

Breakfast & set off for an update at the park offices by the guide and embark on the chimpanzee trekking activity. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best tourist places in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. It contains some of the loveliest and most changing zones of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda during your Uganda safaris and tours

The park shelters a number of forest wildlife, most particularly 13 species of primate joined with chimpanzees, best time to visit Rwanda for gorilla trekking. Day 14: Transfer to Jinja

Touring the source of the Nile River & in the evening, set off on a sunset boat cruise on the expansive River Nile. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day15: Full Day Rafting & Transfer to Kampala

Enjoy your breakfast as you get ready for the anxieties of the day’s rafting exploits. You will have a whole day of white water rafting on the expansive River Nile going via the rapids – a real adrenaline moment, Lunch & cold beers will also be provided as you come out of the water. Drive back to Kampala reaching late evening. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 16: Transfer to Ssese Island

Morning breakfast & brief trip around Kampala city in places like Bahai temple, Gadhafi mosque, and the crafts village. Later transfer to Entebbe or Bukakata for a ferry via Lake Victoria to Ssese Island. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 17: Nature Walk and Sunset Cruise

17th day of your 18 Days best of Uganda and Rwanda safaris, enjoy your breakfast at leisure & set off for a directed nature walk on the lovely Ssese Island where you will experience lots of birds and relish the serene nature.

Retire to the lodge, relax, and have lunch & in the afternoon/evening get ready to go for a sunset boat cruise joined with cold drinks for a really great time. Dinner & overnight stay.

Day 18: Ferry Crossing & Entebbe Tour

Breakfast & leave Ssese early for a ferry to Nakiwogo in Entebbe & start on a trip of Entebbe town like the local markets, Entebbe Botanical Gardens where you will relish walking through with a ranger explaining all of nature & several of monkeys, spiders, lizards, trees, flowers, herbs with bars next to the Lake Victoria where one can get drinks & sit on a sun recliner overseeing Lake Victoria taking in the fresh breezes which are beautiful & lessening.
