Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

On day 1 of 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour the company representative and also your guide driver will pick you from your location either from the airport or hotel, he will brief you about the rwanda tours gorillas and start off your journey to Nyungwe forest National Park in southwestern province of Rwanda. You will drive for a distance of approximately 218 km form Kigali to the park, stop over for a lunch break and en-route as you enjoy the views of the country side proving why Rwanda is referred to as” A land of a thousand hills”. You will reach the park in the evening check in at the lodge of your choice have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking 

On this day 2 of 7 days in kigali, you will have breakfast and head to the park head quarters for briefing with your packed lunch and enough water and a walking stick for those that are not reasonably fit, gorillas in the forest are not habituated on meeting them they tend to shy away and hide form humans but follow the guide they well know where to find them, you will be allowed to take as many photos as possible with non-flash light cameras, after the trek hike to the water falls in the park where you will have a rest and relax off. Head back to the lodge relax and later in the after noon go for a canopy walk one of its kind in East Africa, it gives you a chance to have an aerial view of the forest, more birds and monkey. Persons which are height phobic shouldn’t engage in this activity. After head back to the lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day3: Transfer to Lake Kivu

This third day of 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour doesn’t require you to wake up very early, have a relaxed breakfast as you view the environment around the park, after breakfast check out of the lodge and meet your guide driver and set off for Lake Kivu, on reaching check in at the lodge of your choice, have lunch and later in the afternoon go for a boat cruise and visit the island in the lake. After prepare for swimming in the lake or just relax at the lake as you read a novel, bird watching or just simply admiring the environment around the lake. Later heads back to the lodge for dinner and Overnight.

Day 4: Tour of Lake Kivu and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Wake up very early on day 4 of 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour, have breakfast, check out of the lodge and head for tour around the area of Lake Kivu like the fishing villages for bird watching, visiting locals, track primates on the islands and shores of the lake. After drive to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze in the north province of Rwanda. Check in at the lodge of your choice and relax, after have dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Mountain gorilla trekking

After an early breakfast, day 5 of 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour, carry packed lunch with enough drinking water and meet up with your guide driver and head to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts while in the forest. At 8: 30 start your gorilla trekking in the forest guided by rangers who know the trails of the forest better. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is less tiresome and getting dirty compared to Gorilla trekking in Uganda, hike through the steep densely forested Virunga hills before finally coming across these endangered species. On meeting these gorillas, you will be given 1 hour to spend with these mountain gorillas sight on them as they play, communicate, eat, breastfeed among others. After the trek you will hike back to the park headquarters and you will be rewarded with a Rwanda trekking certificate as a token of thanks for contributing in the conservation of the Park and the endangered gorillas. After relax at the lodge and later in the afternoon, go for a community visit in the Iby’iwacu cultural Village which is one of the neighbors of Volcanoes National Park where former poachers could sell art and craft to tourists and now a leading place for learning about the culture of the people of Rwanda. After head back to the lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Tracking

As the previous night your required to wake up very early in the morning on day 6 of 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour and head back to the Volcanoes National Park forest headquarters, for briefing about golden monkey trekking. The park ranger guide will lead you to the forest, trekking these species takes from 2-6 hours of searching the monkeys, on meeting them you will be given an hour to spend with these species in their nature home as the jump from branch to branch, play, communicate, breastfeed, feed. Your allowed to take as many photos as possible with non-flash light cameras to keep the memories of the adventure alive. After head to the lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. After the long day head back to the lodge for dinner and Overnight stay.
