Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Mabamba Bay
On 1 day mabamba swamp shoebill bird watching, depending on your location, African Safari representative will pick you up with your packed lunch have a short introduction and briefing about the safari then start you 1-hour drive to Mabamba Bay and if we stop for bird watching along the way the hours may get longer. Along the way you will spot various bird species in Bushlands, fields, Marshes and gardens.
On reaching the bay, our boat man and site guide will be waiting, get on wooden boats/ Canoes and start your search for the shoebill as top priority while exploring the water channels. Searching for this bird is best in the morning because it is active looking for lungfish, it stands stationary for some good time waiting for the fish to cross and when it does it catches it with its large powerful beak in the style of a shoe. You will ride through waterways to access various area of the swamp looking fort the Shoebill. On spotting it you will get rewarding sighting of this bird since we approach slowly closely while it is busy preoccupied with catching fish. After perfectly viewing it, you will keep around to spot various other wetland species and waterways.
After the long day of searching and watching birds in Mabamba, you head back and meet your guide driver and transfer either to Entebbe or Kampala
