The 1 day hike mountain longonot, Hike the amazing stratovolcano-mountain rising from the flow of the great African Rift Valley of Kenya southeast of Lake Naivasha and northwest of Nairobi. Mountain Longonot has an amazing national park with in its crater with an impenetrable forest, the mountain has a caldera formed by eruption of trachytic lava. The national park is home to a number of wildlife species like zebras, elands, lions, hartebeests, grant’s gazelles, buffaloes and a number of bird species like Egyptian vulture, spur-winged lapwing, black kite, African grey Hornbill to mention but a few. The mountain can be hiked through an amazing trail of 3.1km from the park entrance up to the crater rim and goes for 7.2 km loop encircling the crater rim with great scenic views across the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha
1 day hike mountain longonot Safari Program
Day 1 of 1 day hike mountain Longonot, after breakfast you will be picked up by our company representative to start your safari, he will brief on how the safari will run and drive off to Mountain Longonot via the great rift valley. You will have a stopover for stretching, bathroom break and take as many photos as you wish. You will arrive at the hiking start point as early as 8:30 am, you will be briefed by the Kenya wildlife service guide and start off the hike. Your required to carry enough water, the first 3 km ascent id thrilling and great for your body acclimatization. On reaching the rim Pass through a 1’9 mi(3.1km) trail to the mountain and the crater rim, a person is required to be reasonably fit in order to engage in this tiresome activity because the trail is rugged and steep, hikers continue for a 7.2 km loop to complete the trek. Enjoy the beautiful views and beautiful scenes. The hike will be completed by 2pm and have lunch somewhere on your way back to Nairobi, the driver will drop you at a hotel in Nairobi or at the airport to catch your flight. End of Safari.
