Bwindi forest national park can be accessed by use of road and air transport as explained below.

BY ROAD;

To access Bwindi forest national park, you can go from Queen Elizabeth national park to the north for a period of 3 to 4 hours, depending on which sector of the park you are interested in accessing. From Kampala through Mbarara about 6 to 8 hours of drive, then later you reach Buhoma entrance gate. We recommend that you use a 4-wheel drive kind of car depending on the nature of the roads and the constant rains that are found unpredictable around Uganda.

Access Bwindi forest national park using air transport as you fly from Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airstrip to the Kisoro air field or to the savannah grass Kayonza airstrip both located in western Uganda. BEST TIME TO VISIT BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK FOR GORILLA TREKKING

Bwindi forest national park can be visited any time around the year for a gorilla safari in Uganda. However, the best time to visit the park is around the dry and short rain seasons in the months of June to august and again in December through to February. This is because during these months, photography is clear and mountain gorillas keep on moving from place to place within the forest searching for food such as ants, leaves and fruits among other foods of their interest hence making it easy to trek.

RULES AND REGULATIONS TO OBSERVE DURING GORILLA TREKKING

For a better observation of these giants, there are some rules and regulations to observe while visiting them. Always follow the ranger/guide’s advice during gorilla trekking in Uganda.

Only a group of 8 travelers can be allowed to trek a Gorilla group in Virunga national park’s forest vegetation habitat.

Children of 15 years and above are also allowed to trek the Gorillas.

Gorilla trekking starts as early as 8:00am to 7:00pm latest.

Keep it in mind that one hour is strictly accepted to stay in the presence of the Gorillas.

Turn your face around if you intend to sneeze as mountain gorillas are vulnerable to human diseases.

When you meet the Gorillas, remember to keep a distance of 7 meters away from the Gorillas.

Use a camera with no flash so as not to provoke the gorillas as the light that comes out of the camera can drive the gorillas into being very wild hence putting your life in danger.
